Lelund Durond Thompson was born and raised in Richlands North Carolina, the town of perfect water. He started performing at the age of 10 when he played a munchkin in the local high school production of THE WIZARD OF OZ. After high school Lelund decided to pursue his love for the craft of acting. He received his BFA from North Carolina A&T State University to where he was named most promising freshman. While at NC A&T SU, Lelund won numerous awards including the best actor in a main stage production award for his performance as Sterling in August Wilson’s Two Trains Running. He also received the awards for excellence in leadership, and most valuable Richard B. Harrison Player, and The Donald Coffey Scholarship. While at NC A&T SU Lelund was named a Kennedy Center /ACTF Finalist 4 years in a row. Lelund spent the summer of his junior year in New York City where interned in the casting offices of ABC’s One Life To Live. After receiving his BFA degree in May of 2003 from North Carolina A&T State University, Lelund was awarded a full scholarship to the Case/Cleveland Play House Professional Actor Training Program. After completing his second year of studies at Case, Lelund was the first recipient of the Oldenburg Scholarship for best MFA Student. Lelund currently resides in New York City, where he has become a part of The Present Pool Theater Company, and NYU’s First Look. He currently works as a Teaching Artist for the CASA/Queens Theater in the park after school program, where he assists children in writing and staging their very own productions. Lelund also works for BAMSS after school program, founded by Ben Harney. Since moving to New York Lelund has discovered his gift in the area of motivational speaking. He can be found all over the city on any given day encouraging others to go to their next level. He enjoys reminding others that you have a CHOICE to CHANGE your situation. Lelund has been seen in numerous shows. Some of his favorite credits include, One Life to Live, Sam in Classical Theater of Harlem’s World Premiere of Emancipation, The World Premiere of Bloody Black Beard at Triad Stage, A Christmas Carol (Actors Theater of Louisville), Well, A Streetcar Named Desire, Charlotte's Web (Cleveland Play House), Taming of the Shrew (Great Lakes Theater Festival), Five Guys Named Moe (Barn Dinner Theater) Dreamgirls directed by Tony Award winner Ben Harney (Lamb's Theater), Waiting for Lefty (Charenton Theater).
